In hospital environments, medical trolleys play a critical role in daily clinical workflows. From medication preparation and nursing procedures to equipment support, they are among the most frequently touched devices in clinical settings. As a result, the safety of work surfaces and other high-contact areas on medical trolleys has become an increasingly important element of hospital infection control strategies.
Since 2023, Fanggemedical has systematically implemented DEFEND Antimicrobial Technology across its medical trolley product lines, reinforcing contact safety at the material level and supporting long-term use in high-frequency clinical environments.
Unlike surface coatings or post-processing treatments, DEFEND is integrated directly into the material during manufacturing. Antimicrobial agents are precisely blended with virgin ABS resin and formed through injection molding, ensuring that antimicrobial performance is inherent to the material itself. This enables consistent protection throughout the product’s lifecycle, including during repeated cleaning, prolonged use, and minor surface wear.
At the core of DEFEND is a micron-level physical antimicrobial mechanism based on silver ions. Within the material structure, silver ions disrupt essential bacterial functions by damaging cell membranes and interfering with protein synthesis and metabolic processes. This prevents bacteria from growing and reproducing on contact surfaces, effectively reducing microbial attachment and spread.
Importantly, this mechanism does not rely on biocidal release or nanoparticle systems, maintaining a balance between antimicrobial effectiveness, user safety, and environmental responsibility.
Independent laboratory testing has confirmed that DEFEND antimicrobial surfaces achieve an antibacterial rate of 99.9% within 24 hours against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, in accordance with GB/T31402-2015 testing standards. These results support its suitability for healthcare environments with stringent infection control requirements.
Today, DEFEND Antimicrobial Technology is stably applied across multiple Fanggemedical medical trolley series and continues to perform in real clinical settings. By embedding antimicrobial capability into the material itself—rather than relying on temporary surface solutions—Fanggemedical is establishing a durable, verifiable, and long-term approach to contact safety for medical trolleys.
As healthcare systems continue to face increasing challenges related to healthcare-associated infections, Fanggemedical remains committed to advancing safer and more reliable medical equipment through material innovation and engineering-driven design.
When antimicrobial protection becomes part of the material itself,
contact safety can truly last.
